Tucked away in the quaint neighborhood of Binjai Park stood this really cosy Italian restaurant that serves pretty authentic flavors of Italy. Capri Trattoria & Pizzeria – owned by Fabrizio who has lived here in Singapore for over 20 years.
It was a random night where mister and I was craving for some true blue Italian food as the last time I was in Italy was November 2016 and now in the last trimester of pregnancy, it is almost impossible to go back to Italy for those goodie foodie. Did some googling and decided to give Capri a check and we were really happy to have made that choice and we will definitely be back again.
Fabrizio and his team made us felt very welcome when we entered the restaurant, gave us some good recommendations for food and drinks. So here are some of the food we ordered and they did bring me back to Italy (even my Italian husband says it is molto buono!)
Bresaola – Thin slices of home made air-dried beef seasoned with truffle oil
If you are a big time lover of cured meat, the Bresaola here is not to be missed. The texture of the meat was really good so are the flavors. It has a tiny tinge of spiciness among the saltiness and sweetness of the meat. Together with the truffle oil and shavings of Parmesan cheese, every bite is just pure enjoyment. Oh did I also mentioned that Capri’s cold cuts are mostly home made?!
Scamorza del fornaio – Smoked cheese baked in a crock with button mushroom, egg white, topped with parma ham and a sprinkle of white truffle oil
Scamorza del fornaio a dish packed with proteins is the appetizer of the mister. It was baked to perfection. Crispy on the outside and when cut, it was soft and spongy on the inside. The Parma ham gave that extra bit of saltiness among the other ingredients used, making the dish well balanced.

When the mister sank his teeth into the pasta, you can tell from his face instantly that it was good. His eyes sparkle with the “mmmmm….mama mia” expression. He has often been disappointed many times at many good reviewed Italian restaurants but this time he is really happy with the pasta.
Pasta as easy a dish it may seem but it does indeed take skills to make a really good one. I had a taste of his pasta and totally agreed with him.Fettuccine was al dente and the cream was light and fresh. The home made pork sausages were bursting with flavors.
Kid you not but it is really difficult to find a restaurant in Singapore that does pasta al dente the right way. It is no wonder why he was loving it so much.
Napoletana – Tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, anchovies, capers, oregano
If you love Pizza Hut, Sarpinos or whatsoever, you have perhaps not had a real Italian pizza. I am very picky about my pizzas and I will not settle for anything less. The Napoletana here is made with their very own recipe starting from the dough. The dough is crispy on the very top layer and fluffy in the centre. The thickness of the pizza was just perfect where you can get enough dough and ingredients proportionately in one bite. Tomato base was sweet and not too sourish. I am still drooling while I am writing this post.
Tiramisu is one great desert that everyone knows and many love. The home made tiramisu here is pretty decent. It has a good mix of mascarpone cheese and cream. It makes me misses my mother-in-law’s tiramisu even more.

Capri is definitely one of those few Italian restaurants where we will be back again and again! And as they say Happy Food Happy Life! Cheers!
